Do I need a lab report to sell a colored gemstone?
No. Our GIA graduate gemologists identify and grade stones in-house. For a potentially important stone we may recommend a report from GIA or AGL — both laboratories are a short walk from our office — because it can raise the offer substantially.
Do you buy heated sapphires and oiled emeralds?
Yes. Heating and oiling are standard treatments; treated stones are simply priced lower than untreated ones of the same quality.
Do you buy lab-created gemstones?
No — natural gemstones only, except as components of period jewelry.
