What it was
A current-generation steel sports watch on a steel bracelet, with a ceramic bezel, bought new a few years earlier and worn regularly. Complete with box, warranty card, booklets, and the spare bracelet links.
How we evaluated it
Authentication first: case and caseback engravings, movement through the caseback, dial printing and lume, bracelet and clasp codes, and the serial and reference numbers against the warranty card. Then condition: the case was unpolished with sharp edges and only light hairlines on the clasp — the “honest wear” buyers prefer over a polished case. Everything was original.
How it was priced
Watch prices are set by the secondary market, so we checked that week’s dealer and auction results for this exact reference and dial, adjusted for the watch’s condition and the full set, and priced from there. The seller had a quote from an Atlanta watch dealer; we showed how ours compared line by line.
What this means for other sellers
Do not polish or service a watch before selling — this one was worth more unpolished. Keep the box, papers, and links; the full set added roughly ten percent here. And insist on seeing the comparables a buyer is pricing from; for Rolex, Omega, Tudor, and similar brands they are public.
Amounts reflect the live market, condition, and the item’s specifications on the day of purchase. Similar items may be offered more or less. No customer information is shown.
